Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a qualified candidate to compile and process data for entry into the Infrastructure Management System (IMS) related to sanitary sewer rehabilitation work orders. You will collaborate with CCTV and Rehabilitation teams to meet project objectives, review work orders, and prepare maps using GIS platforms.

Responsibilities include data entry in Infor IPS, maintaining GIS assets, and coordinating with internal teams to provide accurate documentation for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience in surveying, engineering, drafting or designing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design or related field may substitute for education and experience.
• Directly related professional experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The position involves compiling and processing data for entry into the City’s Infrastructure Management System (IMS), specifically related to work orders for sanitary sewer rehabilitation, cleaning and inspection contracts. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the CCTV and Rehabilitation teams to ensure project objectives and timelines are met. Responsibilities include reviewing cleaning and television work orders, investigating and responding to citizens’ complaints related to contractor’s work and preparing work order maps using varies GIS and IMS platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare work order packages, including maps and documentation using ArcGIS Pro/Online, Infor IPS, and Microsoft Office.


• Perform data entry and updates in Infor IPS to support work order creation, tracking, and reporting.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.

This is a Department of Houston Public Works position at the Tier III Level.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires an Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Designing or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Two (2) years of related experience, such as surveying, engineering, drafting and/or designing, are required.

Substitution: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design or a closely related field may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

None

Preferences will be given to candidates with an understanding of the City of Houston's existing wastewater utilities, experience with ArcGIS online and strong interpersonal skills.

A valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving is strongly desired.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
