LVI Associates in Northern Virginia seeks a Project Surveyor / Senior Project Surveyor with 5+ years of land surveying experience to support diverse civil infrastructure projects. You will work with engineers and surveyors to produce boundary, topographic, ALTA, and easement surveys while managing CAD data and project records.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and strong communication skills are required to coordinate with field crews and project teams to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of land survey drafting experience in surveying or civil engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of boundary analysis and civil infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare survey deliverables: boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys, plats, as-built, easement exhibits.
  • Process field data, GPS coordinates, and survey files within CAD.
  • Develop digital terrain models, surfaces, and contour mapping.
  • Conduct deed, title, plat, and right-of-way research for boundaries.
  • Interpret legal descriptions and metes-and-bounds.
  • Perform drawing revisions and QA/QC to meet standards.
  • Coordinate with field crews, engineers, and project teams to meet deadlines.
  • Manage project CAD files and survey records.

Location: Northern Virginia / Washington, DC Metro Area
Compensation: $80,000 - $105,000+ (based on experience and qualifications)

A well-established multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking a Project Surveyor / Senior Project Surveyor with 5+ years of experience to support land surveying and civil infrastructure projects. This opportunity offers exposure to a variety of residential, commercial, and public-sector developments while working alongside engineering and surveying professionals in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surveydeliverables including:
    • Boundary Surveys
    • Topographic Surveys
    • ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
    • Subdivision Plats
    • As-Built Surveys
    • Easement and Right-of-Way Exhibits
  • Process and manage electronic field data, GPS coordinates, and survey files within CAD platforms.
  • Develop and maintain digital terrain models (DTMs), surfaces, and contour mapping.
  • Conduct deed, title, plat, and right-of-way research to establish property boundaries.
  • Interpret and prepare legal descriptions, including metes-and-bounds documentation.
  • Perform drawing revisions and QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with survey field crews, engineers, and project teams to meet project deadlines.
  • Manage project documentation, CAD files, and survey records.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of land survey drafting experience within a surveying or civil engineering environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, boundary analysis, and civil infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, legal descriptions, deeds, and field sketches.
  • High attention to detail and strong technical drafting skills.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Background
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting land development, transportation, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
