Job summary

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Land Surveyor for our client in Northern Virginia. The candidate will turn field data and property records into accurate plans, plats, and exhibits, with a strong emphasis on Civil 3D and boundary work.

The role involves preparing boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivision, and easement surveys, processing GPS data, building CAD surfaces, and ensuring QA/QC across projects. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional land survey drafting experience, preferably within a surveying or civil engineering environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Solid understanding of land surveying, geomatics, and basic civil engineering concepts.
  • Ability to interpret survey field notes, engineering plans, deeds, plats, legal descriptions, and property records.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with technical drawings and survey data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in Surveying, Geomatics, CAD/Drafting, or Civil Engineering Technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare survey drawings and deliverables, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivision, as-built, and easement/right-of-way surveys.
  • Import and process field data, GPS information, coordinates, and electronic data collector files into Civil 3D.
  • Build and edit surfaces, contours, digital terrain models, and other survey-related CAD information.
  • Research deeds, plats, property records, titles, and right-of-way information to assist with establishing property boundaries.
  • Review and prepare metes-and-bounds descriptions for easements, acquisitions, and property-related projects.
  • Make updates to drawings based on internal QA/QC reviews, client comments, and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Coordinate with field crews, surveyors, engineers, and other project team members to resolve discrepancies and keep projects moving.
  • Maintain organized project files, survey records, CAD drawings, and other digital data.
