Job description

Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Project Surveyor to manage and expand Surveying and related Mapping Services within Dewberry’s Danville, VA or Raleigh, NC offices. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail-oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department. Applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, coordinate daily with the Survey Manager and key office staff, prepare proposals, and be successful in business development while managing the surveying staff. Responsibilities include assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, platting, right-of-way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist survey staff with all aspects of a survey project.
  2. Assist with business development and preparation of contracts.
  3. Coordinate with Survey Department manager, office staff & field staff with daily workload, schedules, and needs.
  4. Follow policy & procedures to ensure all deliverables are done accurately and efficiently.
  5. QA/QC Plats prior to Manager review.
  6. Assist with preparing budgets/proposals, marketing/business development, and monthly invoicing.
  7. Work both independently and in group environments.
Required Skills & Experience
  1. Must have a High School Diploma; a degree in Land Surveying is a plus.
  2. Active Land Surveying license required for North Carolina and Virginia, or ability to obtain.
  3. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of survey experience and project management.
  4. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Must have the ability to work and interact with clients.
  6. Must be proficient with all aspects of computing, drafting, and CAD standards.
  7. Must be proficient with AutoCAD, Carlson Civil, Survey Suite; Microstation/GeoPak is a plus.
  8. Must have diverse survey experience, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, route surveys, construction stakeout, and transportation surveys.
  9. Must be proficient with GPS/GNS systems and use of RTK/VRS and post-processing of survey data (Static - Network Least Squares Reduction).
  10. Must have the ability to perform deed research, process field data collector files, resolve boundaries, and prepare CAD files, metes and bounds descriptions, and final plats.
  11. Must have the ability to perform all aspects of an ALTA Survey.
  12. Must be dependable, conscientious, self-motivated, and driven.
  13. Must be able to work overtime as required.
  14. Must be willing and able to do short-term travel.
  15. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to pass a driving record background check.
  16. Must pass a mandatory drug test.
