Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental professional to own site-wide safety programs for hyperscale data center construction projects. You will lead daily walkthroughs, partner with prime contractors, and drive incident tracking and safety metrics across active sites.

The role requires a 5+ year background in heavy industrial construction safety, OSHA 30/510, and strong leadership to guide teams through live power transitions and high-risk phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or experience in health, safety, or related field.
• 5+ years in heavy industrial construction safety (oil/gas, power, or large-scale manufacturing).
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction or OSHA 510 certification.
• First Aid, CPR, AED certifications.
• Deep knowledge of OSHA construction regulations and NFPA 70E (arc flash, PPE).
• Ability to influence site leadership under aggressive timelines.
• Willingness to work full-time on active construction sites, outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage site-wide health, safety, and environmental programs for hyperscale data center construction projects.
• Perform daily walkthroughs focusing on trenching, crane operations, scaffolding, and heavy equipment.
• Partner with prime contractors to ensure safety programs are implemented and deliverables are timely.
• Track and report incident rates, near misses, and leading safety indicators.
• Lead safety oversight during transition to live power environments (UPS, switchgear, generators).
• Audit prime contractor safety programs.
• Lead weekly safety leadership meetings.
• Establish and maintain emergency response plans, evacuation routes, and medical response procedures.
• Support health, safety, and environmental programs during high-risk construction phases and workforce ramp-ups.

Job description

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience


• 5+ years in heavy industrial construction safety, such as oil and gas, power generation, or large-scale manufacturing


• Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or OSHA 510


• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification


• Deep working knowledge of OSHA construction regulations and NFPA 70E, including arc flash boundaries and PPE selection


• Proven ability to influence site leadership and manage safety performance under aggressive project timelines


• Ability to work full-time on active construction sites, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in varying conditions


• Safety-sensitive position/facility; drug and alcohol program participation is required


• Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, GSP, or CHST are a bonus


• Prior data center construction or commissioning experience is a bonus


• Proficiency with Procore or SafetyCulture/iAuditor is a bonus
