Job Type Full-Time Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Pipeline Project Engineer to provide engineering support for natural gas and liquids pipeline, meter station, and related infrastructure projects. This individual will serve as a technical lead, supporting multiple projects from front-end engineering and scope development through detailed design, construction, and project completion. The ideal candidate will have strong pipeline engineering experience, project management capabilities, and the ability to work closely with engineering firms, construction contractors, permitting agencies, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for natural gas and liquids pipeline and meter station projects.
- Develop front-end and detailed engineering requirements and project scopes.
- Interpret company specifications, engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Direct and coordinate engineering and construction firms throughout project execution.
- Review engineering and construction drawing packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Select appropriate materials and verify that equipment and materials are fit for purpose.
- Support multiple Project Managers across several projects simultaneously.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and engineering deliverables.
- Assist with engineering, construction, land, and other project-related contracts.
- Communicate project status, technical issues, risks, and recommendations to management.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, clients, permitting agencies, and other project partners.
- Support safe, efficient, reliable, and compliant pipeline and energy infrastructure development.
- Travel to project sites and other locations as required, up to 40% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Experience in project engineering or project engineering management.
- Experience managing project budgets.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams, contractors, clients, and regulatory/permitting agencies.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 40%.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–10 years of pipeline engineering, design, or engineering leadership experience.
- Previous experience with an oil & gas, utility, or energy operating company through an internship or co‑op.
- EIT certification.
- Experience with natural gas and liquids pipeline design and engineering.
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.8 and 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195.
- Basic surveying knowledge and familiarity with modern survey technology.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Civil or Mechanical Engineering background.
- MBA or additional project management/business education.

They should be comfortable reviewing detailed engineering packages, identifying potential issues before construction, directing outside engineering firms, and communicating technical decisions to both project teams and senior management.
