Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to oversee major utility programs from application through construction. You will partner with customers, engineering teams, permitting agencies, contractors, field personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, successful project delivery.

The role emphasizes customer applications, permitting, project planning, and construction workflows across EV charging, DER, BESS, and solar initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in PM within utilities/energy/infra.
• Understanding of customer applications, permitting, engineering coordination, and construction support.
• Proven ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organization and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with established PM methodologies and best practices.

• PMP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple utility and infrastructure projects from initiation through construction and completion.
• Support customer-driven energy projects including EV charging, distributed energy resources, BESS, and solar.
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and customer-facing activities across the lifecycle.
• Review and process customer applications and service requests.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, milestones, and status reports.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, engineers, field teams, permitting agencies, and leadership.
• Track risks, issues, deliverables, and milestones to stay on schedule.
• Support cost estimating, project approvals, and execution planning.
• Monitor project performance and address schedule or delivery challenges.
• Provide regular project updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify process improvements and support broader New Business program objectives.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to support major utility new business programs focused on electric and gas infrastructure projects. This individual will manage customer-driven energy projects from initial application through construction and completion.

The Technical Project Manager will partner closely with customers, engineering teams, permitting agencies, contractors, field personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects remain on schedule and are successfully executed.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction, or engineering who understands customer applications, permitting, project planning, and construction workflows.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple utility and infrastructure projects from initiation through construction and completion
• Support customer-driven energy projects, including EV charging, distributed energy resources, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and solar projects
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and customer-facing activities throughout the project lifecycle
• Review and process customer applications and service requests
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, milestones, and status reports
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, engineers, field teams, permitting agencies, and internal leadership
• Track project risks, issues, deliverables, and key milestones to ensure projects remain on schedule
• Support cost estimating, project approvals, and execution planning
• Monitor project performance and proactively address schedule or delivery challenges
• Provide regular project updates to internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction, or engineering
• Strong understanding of project delivery processes, including customer applications, permitting, engineering coordination, and construction support
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and priorities
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience utilizing established project management methodologies and best practices
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience supporting electric or gas utility programs and operations
• Experience managing utility new business projects
• Familiarity with Rule 20 and/or Rule 45 processes
• Experience with SAP, Smartsheet, and/or Power BI
• Exposure to Pipeline and/or Plant 3D systems
• PMP certification
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field
• Previous consulting experience supporting utility clients
