Job description

Project Manager – Specialized Rigging, Hoisting & Fine Art Logistics

A long-established specialty carrier working across New York City and the greater tri-state area is seeking a Project Manager to own its work in the field. Think of it as a logistics and construction fulfillment manager who happens to do rigging and hoisting — the person in this role runs each of their projects as their own operation, from the first site survey through final closeout. The company holds Master Rigger and Special Rigger licenses and is a recognized name in crane hoisting, monumental and fine art transport, installation, and climate-controlled storage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own assigned projects end to end, from site survey and method planning through crew assignment, execution, and closeout.
  • Serve as the direct point of contact for museum, gallery, institutional, and construction clients for the life of each project.
  • Read field conditions and translate what the customer actually needs into scope, method, and price.
  • Cost out and quote work directly to the customer — this position generates revenue and margin rather than managing a budget set elsewhere.
  • Handle construction fulfillment work — receiving, storing, delivering and rigging materials, and debris removal — against a general contractor's site production schedule.
  • Coordinate crews, equipment, permits, and schedules around D.O.T., D.O.B., M.T.A. and Port Authority windows, which frequently dictate night and weekend work.
  • Work on active job sites rather than from a desk, across New York City and the surrounding tri-state area.
Qualifications
  • Background in rigging, crane operations, specialized transport, machinery moving, logistics, distribution, construction, or fine art handling — capability matters more here than length of service.
  • A genuine field background. Comfort on active job sites is a requirement, not a preference.
  • Ability to walk a job and define the approach. Estimating and selling the work are taught here.
  • A record of generating work, not only executing what is handed over.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as project windows require. All overtime is paid.
  • Strong client-facing presence with sophisticated and demanding customers.
  • Working knowledge of NYC site logistics, permitting, and licensed or union trade environments.
  • A Master Rigger's or Special Rigger's License, or an N.Y.C. or NCCCO crane operator's license, is a strong asset.
  • High character, real drive, and no ego. The technical craft is taught.
Compensation

$110,000 – $150,000 base, depending on experience. All overtime is paid on top.

Benefits
  • Medical coverage offered after six months, with the company paying 50% of employee coverage.
  • 401(k) with a 4% company match.
  • Paid vacation and sick days.
  • All overtime is paid. Nights and weekends are structural in this work rather than occasional.
  • A high degree of autonomy — each project manager runs their projects as their own operation.
  • A candidate site visit is built into the interview process.
Compensation:

$110,000-$150,000 per year
