Job summary

JHA Safety LLC dba Optimum Mechanical Services is seeking a skilled rigging professional to support installation, movement, securing, and dismantling of materials in diverse environments. You will ensure safe, accurate handling and attentive documentation of job activities.

The role requires reading load instructions, following safety guidelines, and coordinating with crane operators and crew to meet schedules. A high school diploma and relevant rigging experience are preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in rigging, lifting operations, construction, manufacturing, marine, industrial, or related environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of rigging hardware, lifting practices, and load-handling procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic work instructions, load charts, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong awareness of workplace safety and willingness to follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, prepare, and use rigging equipment, tools, and hardware in accordance with safety requirements and project specifications.
  • Calculate loads, determine appropriate rigging methods, and select proper slings, shackles, chains, hooks, and related gear.
  • Attach loads to cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment using approved rigging techniques.
  • Guide and signal crane or equipment operators to move loads safely and precisely.
  • Set up, align, secure, and dismantle materials, machinery, and structural components as needed.
  • Perform routine inspection of rigging gear and report damaged or unsafe equipment immediately.
  • Follow all site safety procedures, regulations, and lockout/tagout requirements where applicable.
  • Work closely with supervisors, operators, and other crew members to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and store equipment properly after use.
  • Document work activities, equipment issues, and job-related observations as required.

Preferred Skills
  • Rigging certification or relevant safety training.
  • Experience with cranes, hoists, forklifts, or other lifting equipment.
  • Knowledge of hand signals and communication methods used in lifting operations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA or other applicable safety standards.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

This role may involve working indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and environments, including construction sites, industrial facilities, shipyards, warehouses, or similar locations. The position may require standing for extended periods, working at heights, and following strict safety procedures at all times.
