Job summary

MPI is seeking a Project Manager - Mechanical/Commercial in Reston, VA to oversee HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP scopes across the DMV region from preconstruction to closeout. You will manage budgets, schedules, procurement, contracts, and coordination with owners, GC teams, and vendors.

The role requires 5+ years in commercial construction and experience with mechanical contractors or GC projects with MEP exposure.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organization, and client-management skills.
• Experience with mechanical contractors or GC projects with MEP exposure is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost reports.
• Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, piping, mechanical equipment, and associated MEP scopes.
• Manage procurement of equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
• Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Maintain effective communication with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal field teams.
• Partner with Superintendents and field leadership to maintain schedules and quality.
• Identify project risks and develop solutions to protect budget and schedule.
• Oversee contract administration and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure projects achieve successful financial, operational, and client outcomes.
• Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft applications for project management and documentation.

Join a growing commercial construction team as a Project Manager overseeing mechanical projects throughout the DMV region from preconstruction through final closeout. You'll manage budgets, schedules, procurement, contracts, and project coordination across HVAC, plumbing, piping, and broader MEP scopes.

Our client is an established, family-owned contractor has operated since 1988 and has built a significant presence throughout the DMV commercial construction market. The company delivers 100+ projects annually and works across large office, multifamily, hospitality, and commercial environments, with capabilities spanning preconstruction, design-build, mechanical, and plumbing construction.

Description

The Project Manager - Mechanical/Commercial - Reston, VA will be responsible for:

• Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout

• Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft applications for project management and documentation

Profile

A successful Project Manager - Mechanical/Commercial - Reston, VA should have:

• 5+ years of Project Management experience within commercial construction
• Experience with a mechanical contractor is advantageous, but strong GC Project Managers with MEP experience are encouraged to apply
• Working knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, ductwork, sheet metal, and mechanical systems
• Proven experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and construction specifications
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communication, organization, and client-management skills
• Relevant construction, engineering, or related college degree preferred
• Experience working on commercial, multifamily, hospitality, retail, restaurant, or comparable projects is beneficial

Job Offer
