Job summary

Versant Power in Hampden, Maine, invites applications for a Project Manager - Large Scale Technical Station. The role oversees transmission and distribution substation projects, including generation interconnections, with responsibility for scope, budget, schedules and governance.

The successful candidate will lead diverse teams, manage contracts, perform financial analysis, and ensure safety and EMS compliance while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Electrical power systems degree preferred; other experience may substitute.
• At least five years in project management, transmission/distribution or substations.
• Strong business acumen, leadership and general management skills.
• Proficient in planning, scheduling, forecasting, organizing and analysis.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and team-building abilities.
• Strong tech skills: project management tools, Capital Management System, Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet; strong written and verbal communication; comfortable with public speaking.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, schedules, budgets and deadlines.
• Experience with contractors and contract documents is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management, technical oversight and leadership for large transmission and distribution projects.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams through development, approvals, procurement and construction phases.
• Manage scope, budgets, forecasts, controls and close-out.
• Maintain project data in the Capital Management System and schedule with MS Project/Excel.
• Coordinate with Legal on contracts and bid processes.
• Assist in business cases, financial analysis and issue escalation.
• Ensure safety compliance and EMS conformance; manage environmental procedures.
• Interface with regulatory bodies, developers and local authorities; coordinate with internal resources.
