Job summary

Versant Power is seeking a Project Manager for a Large Scale Technical Station in Hampden Operations Center. The role leads the development and construction of major transmission and distribution projects, coordinating internal teams and external contractors.

The ideal candidate has ≥5 years in project management within transmission/distribution, strong business acumen, and excellent communication skills. This exempt, non-bargaining unit position emphasizes safety, budgeting and regulatory

Qualifications

• A formal education degree, in electrical power systems, is preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience in project management, transmission/distribution line or substation operations and construction, or related fields preferred.
• Position requires strong business acumen, project management, leadership and general management skills.
• Requires skills in work planning, scheduling, forecasting, organizing and analysis.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and team-building skills required.
• Position requires excellent technology skills, including proficiency in project management/scheduling software, Capital Management System, Excel, Project, Word, Power point, Smart Sheet, and internal Company planning systems.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, schedules, budgets, and meet deadlines.
• Experience in managing contractors and contract documents preferred.
• Supervisory experience as well as project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides project management, technical oversight and leadership expertise in the development and construction of transmission and distribution projects.
• Leads multi-disciplined teams through project development, approval and execution phases including cost estimates, stakeholder approvals, and contracts.
• Maintains project governance including scope, budgets and forecasts, approvals, controls and closeout.
• Uses project management software to schedule, track and coordinate projects.
• Works with Legal on contracts and bid processes and negotiations.
• Provides expertise for business cases, financial analysis and issue escalation.
• Keeps records for project close-out, change orders and turnover documentation.
• Ensures safety compliance and adherence to the Company Contractor Safety Program.
