Job summary

Walbec is seeking a Project Manager Summer 2027 Internship to support PMs in planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects across Midwest sites. You will gain hands-on exposure to field operations and corporate processes.

Responsibilities include assisting with bidding, scheduling, cost tracking, and documentation while shadowing experienced project managers and engineers. Travel to project sites will be required.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related field with a focus on construction.
• Demonstrated communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

The Position:

• Support Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
• Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, documentation, and project communications.
• Gain exposure to the bidding and estimating process, including reviewing plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and field operations to develop an understanding of construction project management.
• Assist with tracking project progress, production, budgets, and key project milestones.
• Support project documentation, contract administration, and recordkeeping activities.
• Collaborate with project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to support project success.
• Learn and apply industry safety practices while participating in field and office-based project activities.
• Shadow experienced Project Managers and Operations leaders to gain hands‑on experience in heavy highway and construction management.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
