Job summary

Three Notch Group in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Project Manager III to lead the delivery of mid-to-senior projects from initial client engagement to completion. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage plans and resources, and support business development while upholding technical standards and financial performance.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record in project management, exceptional communication, and the ability to guide dual-discipline teams to on-time, on-budget

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 to 14 years of project management experience, or a master’s degree or MBA with at least eight years of project management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Completion of applicable project management and resource-planning training programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Broad knowledge of principles and practices relevant to the applicable technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects of intermediate complexity.
  • Ability to manage a variety of technical tasks, project teams, schedules, budgets, and competing priorities.

Position Overview

Three Notch Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager III to lead the successful delivery of assigned projects from initial client engagement through completion. Working under limited supervision, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining strong client relationships, technical standards, and financial performance.

The Project Manager III will coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, manage project plans and resources, support business development, and serve as a technical leader within their practice. The ideal candidate is an accomplished project manager and communicator who can guide intermediate-complexity projects, balance competing priorities, and identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and grow the practice.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Represent the company professionally and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, subconsultants, and the public.
  • Confirm project expectations with clients and maintain communication with clients, project teams, and subconsultants throughout project delivery.
  • Prepare scope and fee proposals, project understanding and approach narratives, and other technical proposal materials for new opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities with existing and prospective clients and support business development activities, including lead identification, pursuit planning, proposal development, networking, conferences, client meetings, webinars, and trade shows.
  • Maintain client satisfaction through responsive service and follow-up after project completion.
  • Assemble and coordinate the work of professional staff, engineers, and consultants to achieve quality-control objectives and deliver documents in accordance with project schedules, construction cost budgets, internal budgets, and the Project Management Plan.
  • Develop and maintain project plans and budgets in the company ERP system and coordinate resources throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Use the company resource-planning system to establish schedules, deadlines, and personnel assignments.
  • Serve as technical lead for assigned tasks and maintain the technical quality standards established by the company.
  • Manage approximately $500,000 to $1,000,000 in annual net revenue.
  • Review and approve project expenses and client invoices, monitor financial performance, and oversee timely accounts receivable collection.
  • Participate in budgeting, scheduling, manpower projections, and workload-balancing efforts to support utilization targets.
  • Manage assignments efficiently within established schedules and budgets and achieve applicable financial goals, including net revenue, contribution margin, and direct labor expectations.
  • Recommend development opportunities for project team members, identify emerging skills needed to support clients, and participate in assigned professional development and professional activities.
  • Maintain required continuing education and licensure, follow company policies and procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.
What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means consistently delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget while maintaining strong client satisfaction, technical quality, and financial performance. The Project Manager III will keep clients, team members, and subconsultants informed; coordinate resources effectively; and proactively address project risks, schedules, budgets, scope, and quality requirements.

The successful Project Manager III will manage an annual net revenue portfolio of approximately $500,000 to $1,000,000, support timely invoicing and collections, identify opportunities for new and expanded client work, and strengthen the capabilities of project team members. They will demonstrate professional judgment, accountability, technical leadership, and a commitment to the continued growth of clients, employees, and the practice.
