Job description

Join to apply for the Project Manager II - Transportation role at HNTB.

At HNTB, we are seeking a team-oriented project manager with Iowa DOT and/or local municipal transportation design experience, knowledgeable in MicroStation and Geopak / OpenRoads software. The role is based in Des Moines, IA, focusing on highway and transportation projects, with opportunities to support other disciplines across the firm.

Responsibilities include:

1. Developing project scope, fee quotations, and assisting with proposals and contracts.
2. Managing client relationships and project teams to deliver scope, schedule, and budget.
3. Performing technical tasks including analysis, reports, and design.
4. Implementing project delivery plans and supervising team members.
5. Handling project staffing, business development, and proposal efforts.
6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience.
• 2 years of successful management of engineering projects.

Preferred qualifications:

• 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in Iowa.
• Iowa DOT experience and proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, Bentley OpenRoads, Bluebeam Revu.
• Active engagement in professional or civic organizations.
