Job summary

Metra, America’s fourth busiest commuter rail system, seeks a Project Manager 1 to oversee small to mid-range capital projects, including stations, civil infrastructure, and support facilities. Reporting to the Director of Project Management, you will ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Construction/PM or Engineering with at least two years of related experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Project Management, Engineering or relevant field.
• At least two years of engineering or project management experience.
• Knowledge of public works construction contract administration.
• Familiarity with infrastructure project management principles.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

• Manage a range of small to mid-range commuter rail projects including stations and bridges.
• Prepare budgets, cost estimates, scopes of work, staffing, and schedules.
• Review plans with SMEs for constructibility and cost effectiveness.
• Administer contracts: bids, changes, payments, vendor performance.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships and project files.
• Ensure quality, safety standards, and on-time delivery.
