Job summary

Metra Commuter Rail is hiring a Project Manager 1 in Chicago to lead a range of small to mid-size capital projects, including stations and related facilities. You will manage budgets, develop scopes, and coordinate staffing with SMEs to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in construction or related field, plus two years in project management. Travel within the six-county region and flexible hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in construction, project management, engineering or relevant field.
• Two years of engineering or project management experience required.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project budgets and cost estimates; develop scope of work and staffing plans.
• Review designs and plans for cost-effectiveness and constructibility with SMEs.
• Conduct on-site inspections to monitor progress and adherence to quality standards.
• Oversee contract administration: bids, contract changes, payments and vendor performance.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships and project documentation; prepare status reports.
• Travel to sites within Metra’s 6-county region and work flexibly.
