Job summary

Metra’s Capital Delivery Department seeks a Project Manager 2 to manage mid to large scale commuter rail projects including stations, bridges, and supporting facilities, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and to quality standards.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Project Management or related field and at least four years in engineering or project management; strong knowledge of infrastructure project management, contract administration, and Microsoft 365;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Project Management, Engineering or relevant field.
• Four years of engineering or project management experience.
• Good knowledge of infrastructure project management principles.
• Good knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Good knowledge of contract administration for public works projects.
• Good knowledge of state and federal requirements for capital projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project budgets and oversee cost estimates, scope of work, staffing plans, and schedules.
• Review plans and designs with subject matter experts for efficiencies and constructability.
• Participate in the contract administration process including bids and contract changes.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure work stays within scope, budget, and schedule.
