Job summary

Lighteum is seeking a Project Manager I for its San Diego facility. You will organize, plan, and execute strategic projects, coordinating across departments to deliver small-to-medium programs on time and within budget.

This onsite role requires collaboration with sales, quality, and engineering to meet company objectives and customer expectations. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years PM experience in manufacturing, PMP preferred, and a background in medical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, industrial engineering, or related discipline.
• 1–3 years of project management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a PMP certification; or 2–5 years of relevant manufacturing experience without a PMP certification.
• Experience in the medical device industry.
• Proficient in Lean Manufacturing, Project Management frameworks, MRP, and ERP platforms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Define project tasks and responsibilities and ensure activities progress and are completed on time.
• Own and manage a portfolio of small to medium sized programs for the business.
• Establish project prioritization frameworks to ensure resources are aligned with high-value opportunities.
• Develop project governance, metrics, and reporting mechanisms for assigned programs/projects.
• Ensure programs are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with business goals.
• Monitor programs or initiative performance and address risks, constraints, and resource requirements.
• Manage project budget within defined limits and provide risk mitigation recommendations.
• Coordinate project teams and maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders.
• Ensure all project requirements are met including safety, cost, lead time, and training.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans using PM tools (Gantt/MwProj).
• Communicate with customers as required and work with leaders to understand constraints.
• Provide visibility to senior leadership through dashboards and reviews.
• Ensure adherence to ISO standards and QMS requirements.
• Champion a strong safety culture and EHS compliance.
• Occasional travel up to 20% to regional Lighteum sites.
