Description

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a mid-level Project Manager to lead Environmental Construction Services (ECS) projects as part of BC's Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) team. The ideal candidate possesses effective networking, communication, and organization skills to collaborate across various BC business units and with key clients and external subcontractor/supplier partners to deliver at-risk projects using design-build (DB), engineering-procurement-construction (EPC), and construction management at risk (CMAR) delivery models.

This position will work under the direction of an experienced IPD Senior Manager to execute environmental remediation, mitigation, and restoration/closure projects and smaller industrial and municipal water/wastewater projects (typically <$5M in value) for private sector and municipal clients.

The ECS PM will collaborate with other BC professionals in environmental science, engineering, compliance and permitting, cost estimating, operations/maintenance/monitoring (OM&M), and construction procurement and management to deliver solutions that meet BC's standards of safety, quality, risk management, and profitability. Key private sector clients will span production, distribution, and energy markets.

Primary duties include:

  • Manage and execute environmental and water/wastewater projects nationwide, working with BC project teams, clients, and external subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Develop and manage project proposals, budgets, and schedules using BC's WorkSmart+ and Microsoft Project+ programs.
  • Utilize environmental expertise to identify and develop solutions for various contaminants and media.
  • Work independently, exercise professional judgment, and coordinate with ECS leadership to meet project goals.
  • Prepare, review, and edit technical documents such as proposals, permits, work plans, and reports.
  • Interpret site plans, investigation data, and reports to develop environmental strategies.
  • Build a professional network through industry engagement and market trend awareness.
  • Assist leadership in identifying new business opportunities and building client relationships.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, SOPs, templates, and toolkits for efficient delivery.
  • Coordinate work across disciplines and mentor junior staff.
  • Promote company initiatives and values throughout project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in civil/environmental engineering or science with 6-10+ years of experience in consulting, construction, or OM&M for environmental projects; PE or E.I.T. preferred.
  • Experience managing diverse technical teams and project proposals.
  • Growing expertise in environmental solutions, with hands-on field experience preferred.
  • Understanding of safety protocols for environmental construction.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
  • Experience with procurement, regulatory programs, and permitting.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% annually.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to pass a drug screen.

Salary ranges vary by location, with benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and more. For details, see our website.
