Job Description: Mid-Level Project Manager at Brown and Caldwell

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a mid-level Project Manager to lead Environmental Construction Services (ECS) projects as part of BC's Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) team. The ideal candidate possesses effective networking, communication, and organization skills to collaborate across various BC business units and with key clients and external partners to deliver at-risk projects using design-build (DB), engineering-procurement-construction (EPC), and construction management at risk (CMAR) models.

This position reports to an experienced IPD Senior Manager and focuses on executing environmental remediation, mitigation, restoration/closure projects, and smaller industrial and municipal water/wastewater projects (typically <$5M) for private and municipal clients.

The ECS PM will collaborate with BC professionals in environmental science, engineering, compliance, permitting, cost estimating, operations/maintenance/monitoring (OM&M), and construction procurement to ensure safety, quality, risk management, and profitability. Key clients include sectors like food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, mining, manufacturing, retail, technology, transportation, waste, oil/gas, chemicals, and power.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage environmental and water/wastewater projects nationwide, coordinating with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and oversee project proposals, budgets, and schedules using BC's WorkSmart+ and Microsoft Project+.
  • Apply environmental expertise to identify and develop solutions for contamination issues.
  • Work independently, exercising professional judgment to meet client expectations and project goals.
  • Draft, review, and edit technical documents including proposals, permits, work plans, and reports.
  • Interpret site plans, investigation data, and reports to develop environmental strategies.
  • Build a professional network through industry engagement and market trend awareness.
  • Support business development by fostering client relationships and internal team collaboration.
  • Maintain project plans, SOPs, templates, and toolkits for efficient project delivery.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary work and mentor junior staff.
  • Promote company initiatives and values throughout project phases.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering or science; 6-10+ years experience in consulting, construction, or OM&M for environmental projects. P.E. or E.I.T. preferred.
  • Experience managing diverse technical teams and project proposals.
  • Growing expertise in environmental solutions, with hands-on field experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
  • Experience with procurement and regulatory permitting is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% annually.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, collaborative, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug screen.
Additional Details:

Salary ranges vary by location, from $97,000 to $158,000. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and more. BC is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and nondiscrimination.
