PMA has immediate openings for a full‑time, multi‑year Project Manager / Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) supporting major building rehabilitation, sustainability, and/or new construction projects within the transportation, maritime and aviation sectors in the metro Boston area. The successful candidate will join PMA’s established OPM team and will work primarily on‑site. This role is responsible for managing multiple projects through the full lifecycle—from planning and procurement through design, construction and closeout.
This is a multi‑year, full‑time assignment based at the client’s office. A hybrid work schedule may be evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis with strong client influence.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple capital improvement projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, from inception through closeout.
- Prepare, coordinate, and review Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for design consultants, engineering services and general contractors.
- Support client leadership in the solicitation, procurement, evaluation and selection process for A/E and construction services.
- Provide technical and professional assistance in ranking and evaluating proposals, including leading or supporting interview and selection processes.
- Drive contract and fee negotiations with architects/engineers (A/Es) and general contractors (GCs).
- Collaborate with design consultants during the design phase to ensure conformance with scope, schedule and budget.
- Manage consultant, contractor and engineering services during the construction phase, maintaining alignment with project goals and client expectations.
- Coordinate and secure all necessary internal and external project approvals, permits and stakeholder sign‑offs.
- Manage communications and expectations across all key stakeholder groups, including client personnel, regulatory agencies, third‑party partners and community stakeholders.
- Provide supervision, direction and mentorship to assistant project managers, resident engineers, field staff and support personnel.
- Maintain responsibility for managing the project schedule and project budget in tandem, ensuring adherence throughout all project phases.
- Follow up on outstanding action items, track progress and ensure timely resolution of project issues.
- Attend client and project team meetings; prepare meeting minutes, reports, presentations and project communication documents.
- Prepare and present periodic progress reports, status updates and project documentation to client leadership.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the client and overall project success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience supporting design and construction projects as part of a project management or OPM team.
- Strong understanding of project design and construction processes required; experience with Massachusetts transportation, aviation or maritime programs preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of the Massachusetts public bidding process and applicable public bidding laws (e.g., MGL Ch. 25A, 149, 149A) strongly preferred.
- Ability to work full time, Monday through Friday, as required by client commitments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong proficiency in interpreting plans and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to stay organized, manage competing priorities, and drive multiple action items simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Excel, MS Teams and SharePoint required.
- Working knowledge of PMWeb or Procore preferred.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software preferred.
- Ability to pass a security background check required.
- Strong client‑service orientation, with the ability to represent PMA professionally within a large, multi‑stakeholder environment.

- Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
- Cognitive: Problem‑solving, written and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
