Job summary

MKE Contracting, a residential contractor in Wisconsin, seeks a Project Manager with strong organizational and communication skills. You will facilitate client design consultations, create scopes of work, and coordinate budgets with subcontractors and vendors.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years PM experience, knowledge of CAD/Buildertrend, and basic carpentry skills. Travel to local job sites is required; hybrid in-person work available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Building Science or Construction Management.
• 2-5 years of experience in construction or project management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong technical and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate initial client consultations and participate as needed.
• Create scopes of work and bid packages to support project budgets.
• Collaborate with designers and clients during design to ensure buildability.
• Develop project plans, schedules and budgets; coordinate execution with subcontractors and vendors.
• Perform site walkthroughs and manage 3-5 projects simultaneously to meet milestones.
• Maintain subcontractor relationships with clear scope and documentation.
• Provide progress updates to clients and escalate issues as needed.
• Oversee daily site visits and procurement of materials and deliverables.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are a residential general contractor looking for a project manager with strong organizational and communication skills; proficient knowledge of construction, building methods, and basics of building science; and basic carpentry and handyman skills.

You will be responsible for facilitating initial design consultations with clients, creating scopes of work, working with designers and clients during design phase, creating project plan, schedule and budget as well as coordinating execution of projects with subcontractors and vendors.

You should be able to manage 3-5 projects in parallel and maintain pace toward milestones while escalating issues or troubleshooting on job sites. Familiarity with industry tools like Buildertrend and CAD is an advantage but not required.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Building Science or Construction Management
• 2-5 years of experience in construction or project management
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong technical and communication skills are critical
• Knowledge of industry standard software including CAD, Buildertrend, Dropbox, Cora and Mac office tools (Numbers)
• Basic carpentry skills and handyman skills
• Strong knowledge of construction and building methods
• Strong knowledge of building science basics
• Strong organizational skills

RESPONSBILITIES

• Facilitate initial consultation(s) with clients; attend as needed and determined by owner
• Create scopes of work / bid packages from sub-contractors to facilitate creation of project budget
• Work closely with designer and client during design phase to ensure buildibility
• Work with owner and client to create project plan, implementation/project schedule and budget
• Perform trade walkthroughs
• Maintain sub-contractor relationships by providing sufficient scope and project documentation as well as troubleshooting during the project
• Update client as needed for progress and changes
• Manage multiple projects (3-5) in parallel maintaining pace for milestones and resolving or escalating issues / troubleshooting
• Daily job site visits and tasks as needed
• Ordering / Securing / Coordinating of all building materials and deliverables
• Document project closeout process including punch list items
• Maintain vendor relationships for products including warranty claims
