Cormorant Utility Services is seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to lead the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of high-voltage electrical projects.
The Project Manager will ensure alignment with corporate strategy, health and safety, and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, cost controllers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to keep projects on time, within budget, and fully compliant with contractual obligations. If you have experience in the utility industry in project management and construction of high voltage electrical installations within stations, distribution, or transmission, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and monitor detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones.
- Ensure complete understanding and compliance with project contracts, scope of work, and specifications.
- Manage change orders, contract closeouts, substantial completion, and holdbacks.
- Monitor project performance using KPIs such as progress reports, cost reports, and risk registers.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes and job status reports.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Verify team competency through training, experience, and qualification assessments.
- Ensure labor and tooling/equipment needs are identified early and validated against the project budget.
- Review and approve timesheets, manpower requests, and job change recommendations in coordination with HR.
- Promote and enforce the Site Safety Plan, Health & Safety Program, and corporate safety culture.
- Participate in and lead safety communications, meetings, and reviews.
- Ensure all safety, quality, and environmental procedures are followed; enforce compliance where necessary.
- Work with Procurement and Estimating to validate budgets, review purchase requisitions, and approve major material purchases.
- Review and update accruals and commitments; provide cost reports to controllers.
- Ensure subcontractor pre-qualifications, scope reviews, execution, and compliance monitoring are completed.
- Ensure proper ordering of equipment, tools, and property leases immediately post-project kickoff.
- Align tooling and fleet requirements with budget and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with Fleet to complete insurance and lease documentation before mobilization.
- Manage client relationships and coordinate project alignment across internal stakeholders (Warehouse, Engineers, Coordinators, Procurement, HR).
- Approve payroll, track invoices, and ensure proper documentation for client and subcontractor meetings.
Qualifications & Profile
- 8+ years of project management experience in high-voltage electrical construction.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management is an asset.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote locations.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., scheduling software, cost tracking, and reporting systems).
- Valid Driver’s License required.
