Project Manager – Renewable Energy (Substation Experience Required)

Location: Remote

Type: Contract - Direct

Travel Expenses: Pre-approved expenses (rental car, flights, hotels) reimbursed by Leeward

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager with Substation experience to lead and oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of renewable energy projects, including Substation, Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role involves managing project timelines, budgets, and resources while ensuring that projects are completed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional project management skills, a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  2. Execution and Delivery: Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders. Communicate project status, manage expectations, and resolve issues effectively.
  4. Budget Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost control in alignment with financial plans.
  5. Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on timelines and deliverables.
  6. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices while implementing quality assurance processes to meet industry standards.
  7. Team Leadership: Lead and support project teams, including engineers, contractors, and other project personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  8. Reporting: Prepare regular project reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for project improvements.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  2. 4-6 years of experience in project management with a focus on Substation projects (experience with Wind, Solar, and BESS projects is highly desirable).
  3. Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and project management methodologies.
  4. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  5. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  7. Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and general office applications.
  8. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is advantageous but not required.
