Job description

Project Manager

Location: San Diego, CA
Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 DOE + performance-based bonus opportunity

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a growing construction company in San Diego that is looking for a Project Manager to join its team and play a key role in supporting the company's continued growth.

This is an opportunity for a construction professional who has a strong foundation in project management and is ready to take on greater ownership. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on the project-management side of construction, communicating with clients and subcontractors, tracking project costs and schedules, and spending time in the field.

The right person will be positive, hardworking, organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership. Technical construction knowledge can be developed, but the company is looking for someone with the attitude and communication skills to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.

About the Role

The Project Manager will serve as a key point of contact throughout active projects, helping manage the day-to-day details that keep projects moving forward. This person will work closely with the owner initially, with the expectation that they will progressively take on more responsibility and ultimately manage projects independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the overall management of residential, commercial, and remodeling projects from active construction through completion

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, clients, and project stakeholders

  • Coordinate with subcontractors and job sites to ensure work is progressing according to schedule

  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, and overall project progress

  • Maintain and update cost forecasts and project documentation

  • Track project details, follow up on outstanding items, and ensure deadlines are being met

  • Act as the first line of communication for subcontractor questions, issues, and project needs

  • Communicate directly with clients and provide consistent updates throughout the project

  • Visit job sites regularly to understand project progress and address issues as they arise

  • Identify potential problems early and proactively work toward solutions

  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, coordination, and closeout

  • Maintain organized project records and documentation

  • Work closely with the owner to transition increasing project-management responsibilities over time

  • Help establish efficient systems and processes as the company continues to grow

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of construction project management, assistant project management, or project engineering experience

  • Experience managing or supporting active construction projects

  • Strong understanding of construction project-management processes

  • Ability to work comfortably between the office and job site

  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail

  • Strong computer and project-management skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace

  • Experience with Bluebeam and/or Microsoft Project is a plus, but not required

  • Residential construction, remodeling, or commercial construction experience will be considered

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a positive, hardworking, optimistic, and naturally driven professional who takes ownership of their work and genuinely wants to contribute to the company's success. They should be someone who stays calm and solution-oriented when projects become challenging, communicates with kindness and professionalism, and brings positive energy to their interactions with clients, subcontractors, and teammates
