Job summary

Fox Landscape & Irrigation Inc is seeking a Project Manager to lead non-maintenance projects, from pre-construction through punch list and close-out, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and profitability. This role bridges sales and field production across large-scale installations and estate enhancements.

The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years in landscape construction with senior-management experience, strong hardscape and irrigation know-how, and proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam and CAD.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4–7 years in landscape construction with 2–3 years in a senior management role overseeing multiple crews and high-dollar projects.
• Strong knowledge of hardscape construction, irrigation systems, drainage/grading, and horticultural best practices.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR; C-27 license or CLP a plus.
• Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, CAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

• Lead the Construction Division's workflow, labor forecasting and equipment scheduling.
• Mentor foremen and crews to uphold safety, quality and efficiency.
• Oversee project planning, budgeting, and execution for multiple simultaneous sites.
• Conduct site inspections and manage change orders; ensure client approvals before work proceeds.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to integrate work smoothly with Fox crews.
• Maintain high-level communications with General Contractors, Developers and Architects.

Hourly Range: $41.00-$67.50Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all non-maintenance projects, ranging from large-scale installations to complex residential/estate enhancements. This role ensures that every project is delivered safely, on time, and exceeds Fox Landscape’s quality standards while hitting strict profitability targets. The Project Manager bridges the gap between sales and field production, overseeing project lifecycles from pre-construction through final punch-list and close-out.

Key Responsibilities

1. 1. Leadership & Strategic Oversight
   • Operational Direction: Manage the overall workflow of the Construction Division, including labor forecasting and high-level equipment scheduling.
   • Mentorship: Provide direct leadership and technical coaching to Foremen and crews.
   • Culture: Foster a culture that prioritizes efficiency and accountability without sacrificing quality or safety.
   • Issue Resolution: Act as the main point of escalation for field issues, subcontractor conflicts, or technical installation challenges.
2. 2. Project Management & Quality Control
   • Lifecycle Management: Oversee project planning, resource allocation and execution for multiple concurrent job sites.
   • Site Inspections: Conduct frequent, unannounced site walkthroughs to audit installation quality and progress against the schedule.
   • Change Order Management: Identify and ensure all field changes are documented, priced, and approved by the client before work proceeds.
   • Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Prequalify and manage third-party subcontractors to ensure their work integrates seamlessly with Fox Landscape crews.
3. 3. Pre-Construction & Financial Management
   • Estimate Review: Collaborate with the sales team/estimators to review project bids, ensuring labor hours and material costs are realistic for field execution.
   • Budget Accountability: Monitor job costing reports weekly. Identify and correct labor overages or material waste immediately to protect profit margins.
   • Procurement Strategy: Approve major material purchases and negotiate with vendors for bulk pricing on stone, plants, and irrigation supplies.
   • Administrative Approval: Review and authorize subcontractor invoices and division payroll.
4. 4. Safety & Compliance
   • IIPP Implementation: Enforce all aspects of the company Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
   • Hazard Assessment: Ensure Foremen conduct daily site-specific hazard assessments, particularly for heavy equipment operation, trenching, and utility locating.
   • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation and reporting of any job-site accidents or near misses in accordance with Cal/OSHA requirements.
5. 5. Client & Partner Relations
   • Communication: Maintain high-level contact with General Contractors, Developers, and Architects to ensure Fox Landscape is viewed as a premier partner.
   • Project Close-out: Ensure all projects conclude with a professional walkthrough, a completed punch-list, and the delivery of irrigation plans to the client.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 4-7 years in landscape construction, with at least 2-3 years in a senior management role overseeing multiple crews and high-dollar projects.
• Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of hardscape construction (pavers, walls), complex irrigation systems, drainage/grading, and horticultural best practices.
• Licenses: Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR for insurance purposes. C-27 Landscape Contractor license or CLP (Certified Landscape Professional) is a plus.
• Digital Literacy: High proficiency in project management software for design, renderings, and estimating (Procore, Bluebeam, CAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders and traversing uneven terrain.
• Tolerance for outdoor work in extreme temperatures and dusty environments.
• Travel between multiple job sites throughout the region is required.
• Ability to lift, carry, pull no more than 35 lbs.
