Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) offers a Summer Internship Program in Columbus, OH, inviting highly motivated college students to join a 10 to 12-week paid internship. Interns will work alongside experienced project managers on initiatives delivering safe, reliable energy while gaining hands-on experience in planning, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers with planning, organizing, and coordinating project activities.
• Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and status reports.
• Participate in project team meetings and document action items and key decisions.
• Track project milestones, deliverables, risks, and issues.
• Prepare presentations, dashboards, reports, and other project documentation.
• Assist in collecting and analyzing project data to support informed business decisions.
• Support communication among project team members, business partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Gain exposure to project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Assist with procurement, contracting, scheduling, or project controls activities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Learn and promote AEP’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.
• Develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through project assignments and mentorship opportunities.
