Job summary

American Electric Power offers a Summer Internship Program inviting top college students to a 10–12 week paid internship. Interns will work with seasoned project managers on initiatives that deliver safe, reliable, and affordable energy to customers.

The role provides exposure to planning, scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and project controls, with mentorship and networking opportunities. Housing stipend may be available for eligible relocatees.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in PM or related fields; freshman year completed; graduation after Dec 2027.
• Strong organization, analytical and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
• Not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers with planning and coordinating activities.
• Support development and maintenance of schedules, budgets, and status reports.
• Document action items and key decisions in meetings.
• Track milestones, risks, and issues.
• Prepare presentations, dashboards, and project documentation.
• Analyze project data to support decisions.
• Support communication among team members, vendors, stakeholders.
• Learn project management methodologies and tools.
• Assist with procurement, contracts, scheduling, or project controls activities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
