Job summary

American Electric Power Co. is seeking a Project Management Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting projects that deliver safe, reliable, and affordable energy.

You will learn project planning, scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and project controls while contributing to meaningful work at AEP. You will collaborate with experienced project managers, participate in team meetings, and receive mentorship.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Must have completed at least your freshman year.
• Graduation date between Fall 2027 and Spring 2029.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
• This position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers with planning, organizing, and coordinating project activities.
• Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and status reports.
• Participate in project team meetings and document action items and key decisions.
• Track project milestones, deliverables, risks, and issues.
• Prepare presentations, dashboards, reports, and other project documentation.
• Assist in collecting and analyzing project data to support informed business decisions.
• Support communication among project team members, business partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Gain exposure to project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Assist with procurement, contract, scheduling, or project controls activities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Learn and promote AEP's commitment to safety and operational excellence.
• Develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through project assignments and mentorship opportunities.

Education
