Job summary

Poutrix is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) System Design Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Columbus, Ohio. You will engineer and design I&C and SCADA systems for environmental remediation and municipal water projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of experience in I&C and SCADA design. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a salary range of $88,000 to $150,000.

Job description

Arcadis is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) System Design Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Ohio or Detroit.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and design I&C and SCADA system for environmental remediation, industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, and facilities.
• Produce design & construction documents. Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to the project.
• Prepare technical memorandums, SCADA system architecture, and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control functional narratives, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, interconnection diagrams.
• Support projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater facilities, serving as Arcadis’ primary point of contact for their I&C needs.
• Lead all facets of a project: budgeting, planning, cost estimating, design and execution of SCADA and instrumentation & control systems.
• Support electrical engineering and develop electrical design to support I&C systems. Conduct factory testing, site acceptance testing, field checkout, and startup of I&C and SCADA systems.
• Program process control logic in PLCs and configure graphical HMI for SCADA system on a variety of platforms. Configure historical data collection, archiving and report generation.
• Produce effective and accurate written specifications for implementing I&C and SCADA projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of I&C, Automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in water/wastewater market.
• EIT/Professional Engineer license.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in developing bid and construction documents.
• PLC/HMI programming, configuration & startup experience.

Key Skills and Attributes

• Basic knowledge of Autocad and Revit.
• Ability to self‑direct and work on multiple assignments while meeting project deliverables.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook).
• Advance knowledge of applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment, developing SCADA networks, fibre optic cable networks, radio & cellular telemetry networks, basic IT and industrial networks.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; willingness to travel up to 25%.

Salary

Salary range: $88,000 - $150,000. Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
