Description:

As a Project Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in managing some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects! Our geotechnical team works on a variety of transportation, energy, development, and natural resources projects. Responsibilities include planning field programs, conducting technical briefings with field staff, and project management tasks including budgeting and client communications. You will also be responsible for performing engineering analyses and preparing technical reports, as well as conducting regular site visits, overseeing field explorations and construction observations. As a project manager, you will be responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of junior staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead or coordinate the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction observation projects. Ensure that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines.
  2. Assist with training junior technical and technician staff.
  3. Complete engineering analyses and calculations including: pavement design, slope stability, settlement, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and seismic design.
  4. Lead the preparation of technical reports including routine reports, figures, and tables; assist senior staff in completing larger, complex reports.
  5. Lead the development of construction plans and specifications for slope stabilization, soil nail walls, soldier pile and tieback walls, and ground improvement projects.
  6. Manage project tasks such as attending project meetings, planning budgets and schedules, staffing, task assignments, and proposal development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • At least one year of project management experience required.
  • PE license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • All candidates must complete a background check and reference check.
  • Participation in our medical surveillance program is required.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Ability to work on a PC for prolonged periods with screen viewing.
  • Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
  • Work must be conducted safely, including wearing appropriate safety equipment and participating in safety training.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated salary range: $80,200 - $113,000 annually, based on experience and education. Employees may be eligible for annual bonuses and other benefits including healthcare, 401(k), insurance, paid time off, and more.
