As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in managing technically challenging projects such as highway improvements, substations, transmission lines, and renewable energy initiatives. Your responsibilities include planning field programs, conducting technical briefings, project management tasks like budgeting and client communication, performing engineering analyses, preparing technical reports, conducting site visits, overseeing field explorations and construction observations, and mentoring junior staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead project management tasks including developing budgets, scopes, client billings, report reviews, contract reviews, and proposal development, ensuring effective project execution in collaboration with Principals and Associates.
- Serve as a technical resource, providing guidance to solve complex challenges.
- Develop accurate and comprehensive field reports, figures, and tables with minimal revisions.
- Review deliverables from staff and mentor junior team members on technical skills and best practices.
- Lead business development activities, such as identifying new clients and attending professional events.
- Coordinate field exploration and construction projects, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Perform engineering analyses, including complex numerical and spatial modeling.
- Create GIS-related project deliverables like maps and databases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering preferred.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience and 4 years of project management experience.
- PE license required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to perform site visits, including physical activities like lifting and hiking in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel locally and long distances for client service and business development.

- Background and reference checks required.
- Ability to perform physical activities, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
- Proficiency with PC work and ability to travel for assignments.
- Commitment to safety, including reporting hazards, participating in safety briefings, and wearing safety gear.
