Job summary

Thor is seeking a Project Executive to lead its largest, most complex design-build construction projects in Texas. You will own strategy and commercial performance from initial client conversations through handover, acting as the senior client contact and leader of the project team.

You have 7+ years of P&L accountability, 5+ years in design-build or hard-bid projects, and a strong background in engineering, estimating and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Degree or 10+ years relevant experience.
• 7+ years full P&L accountability across multiple projects.
• 5+ years managing design-build or hard-bid projects.
• Experience with lump sum, GMP, cost-plus, CM contracts.
• Strong track record of improving project margins.
• Experience delivering $2M+ process or production equipment scope.
• Strong grounding in engineering, design, scheduling and industrial estimating.
• Excellent communicator and mentor for project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead proposals and set a project execution strategy with Construction, Design, MEP and Field Ops.
• Monitor budgets, spot issues early and drive project profitability.
• Oversee the master schedule, delay documentation and recovery plans.
• Manage contractual and project risk, and champion safety and quality.
• Be the senior escalation point for clients, subcontractors and consultants.
• Mentor Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.

They are an established, nationally recognised design-builder, delivering construction, design and engineering, specialty equipment and automation under one roof. Their clients are leading businesses in manufacturing, food and beverage, data centres, advanced technology and distribution.

The role

You'll lead their largest, most complex projects, including $200M+ builds. You own strategy and commercial performance from first client conversation to handover, and act as the senior client contact and leader of the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead proposals and set a project execution strategy with Construction, Design, MEP and Field Ops
• Monitor budgets, spot issues early and drive project profitability
• Oversee the master schedule, delay documentation and recovery plans
• Manage contractual and project risk, and champion safety and quality
• Be the senior escalation point for clients, subcontractors and consultants
• Mentor Project Managers and Senior Project Managers

What you'll bring

• 5+ years managing design-build or hard-bid projects
• Experience with all contract types (lump sum, GMP, cost-plus, CM) and their legal implications
• A track record of improving project margins
• Experience delivering $2M+ of process or production equipment scope, or comparable
• Strong technical grounding in engineering and design, plus industrial estimating and scheduling experience
• Excellent communicator and mentor, comfortable with complex financials
