Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years estimating experience in heavy civil or commercial construction.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs and contract documents.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing cost estimates.
• Knowledge of construction means, methods, materials and production rates.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Maintains current and future project bid lists and bidding materials.
• Collects information for estimates and assists with site visits for risk notes.
• Reviews plans and specifications and coordinates with project managers during bidding.
• Includes safety costs in bids and coordinates with subcontractors.

ProjectEstimatorisresponsibleforpreparingdetailedcostestimatesforcommercialconstructionprojects.Thispositionreviewsplansandspecifications,performsquantitytakeoffs,coordinatessubcontractorpricing,andworkscloselywithProjectManagersthroughoutthebiddingprocess.Occasionaltraveltoprojectsitesisrequired.

Responsibilities Include:

• Maintainscurrentandfutureprojectbidlists:Maintainsestimatinglogofcurrentbiddingprojectsandfuture/potentialprojects.AssistsinlookingatWEBpages,newspapers,andotherpublicationsforfuture/potentialprojects.Obtainsplansfromowner/engineeringfirms.
• Collectsinformationfortheestimate:ReviewssitewithProjectManagertonotepotentialrisks.Assistsincalculatingjobquantities.
• Studiesandunderstandsplansandspecifications,includingestimatingassumptions,productionrates,andmethodsofconstruction.Assistsinrequestingsubcontractorquotes.Obtainsbidderslist.
• Makessafetyakeyfactorinbiddingbyincludingcostsoftrenchboxes,confinedspacedetection,safetymeetings,etc.,andotherprojectsafetyneeds.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’sdegreeinCivilEngineering,ConstructionEngineering,ConstructionManagement,orarelatedfieldpreferred(orequivalentexperience).
• Minimumof5yearsofestimatingexperienceinheavycivilorcommercialconstruction.
• Abilitytoreadandinterpretconstructiondrawings,specifications,andcontractdocuments.
• Experienceperformingquantitytakeoffsanddevelopingaccuratecostestimates.
• Knowledgeofconstructionmeans,methods,materials,andproductionrates.
• Experiencesolicitingandevaluatingsubcontractorandsupplierbids.
• Proficiencywithestimatingsoftware,MicrosoftOffice,andotherconstruction-relatedapplications.
