Job summary

Dick Anderson Construction is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Full-Time Project Estimator to join our team in Great Falls, Montana. The Project Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, review plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and collaborate with Project Managers throughout the bidding process.

Occasional travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or commercial construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing accurate cost estimates.
• Knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and production rates.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and other construction-related applications.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as a part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Performs quantity takeoffs and coordinates subcontractor pricing.
• Maintains current and future project bid lists and obtains plans from owners/engineering firms.
• Assists in obtaining bidders lists and in soliciting subcontractor quotes.
• Keeps safety costs (e.g., trench boxes, confined space, safety meetings) as a factor in bidding.

• Collectsinformationfortheestimate:ReviewssitewithProjectManagertonotepotentialrisks.Assistsincalculatingjobquantities.
• Studiesandunderstandsplansandspecifications,includingestimatingassumptions,productionrates,andmethodsofconstruction.Assistsinrequestingsubcontractorquotes.Obtainsbidderslist.
• Makessafetyakeyfactorinbiddingbyincludingcostsoftrenchboxes,confinedspacedetection,safetymeetings,etc.,andotherprojectsafetyneeds.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor'sdegreeinCivilEngineering,ConstructionEngineering,ConstructionManagement,orarelatedfieldpreferred(orequivalentexperience).
• Minimumof5yearsofestimatingexperienceinheavycivilorcommercialconstruction.
