Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years estimating experience in heavy civil or commercial construction.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing accurate cost estimates.
• Knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and production rates.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and other construction-related applications.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines; self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Maintains current and future project bid lists; assists in obtaining plans from owners/engineers and sources for future projects.
• Collects information for estimates by reviewing sites with Project Manager and noting potential risks.
• Studies plans and specs, estimates quantities, requests subcontractor quotes, and assembles bid packages.
• Includes project safety costs and other bid factors to reflect site conditions and risk.

Job description

Dick Anderson Construction is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Full-Time Project Estimator to join our team in Jackson, WY.

The Project Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This position reviews plans and specifications, performs quantity takeoffs, coordinates subcontractor pricing, and works closely with Project Managers throughout the bidding process. Occasional travel to project sites is required.

Responsibilities Include

• Maintains current and future project bid lists: Maintains estimating log of current bidding projects and future/potential projects. Assists in looking at WEB pages, newspapers, and other publications for future/potential projects. Obtains plans from owner/engineering firms.
• Collects information for the estimate: Reviews site with Project Manager to note potential risks. Assists in calculating job quantities.
• Studies and understands plans and specifications, including estimating assumptions, production rates, and methods of construction. Assists in requesting subcontractor quotes. Obtains bidders list.
• Makes safety a key factor in bidding by including costs of trench boxes, confined space detection, safety meetings, etc., and other project safety needs.
