Job summary

Jobot is seeking a full-time Project Estimator for commercial construction in Newport News, Virginia. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, and preconstruction, with a strong grasp of documents, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.

You will develop budgets and estimates from early budgeting through contract execution, interfacing with owners and design teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documents.
• Experience developing material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Experience preparing subcontracts and final contract estimates.

We are seeking a full-time Project Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of commercial construction estimating experience and a strong understanding of construction documents, cost analysis, subcontractor procurement, and preconstruction.

In this role, you will work directly with Owners, Design Teams, and Project Management to develop accurate estimates and support projects from early budgeting through final contract execution.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to develop accurate time, cost, material, and labor estimates.
• Calculate costs for materials, purchased or leased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities, and labor.
• Prepare project budget estimates and schedules.
• Perform value management and identify opportunities for cost-effective project solutions.
• Develop procurement strategies for project materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, trade partners, and suppliers.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate trade partner proposals.
• Prepare and execute subcontracts.
• Develop and finalize contract estimates.
• Collaborate with Owners, Design Teams, and Project Management throughout the estimating and preconstruction process.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Strong experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documents.
• Demonstrated experience developing material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Experience with project budgets, schedules, value management, and procurement.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor/trade partner proposals.
• Experience preparing subcontracts and final contract estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Destiny (Beck Technology) estimating software is preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative project environment.
