Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Project Engineer to support new product development and product sustaining tasks for Global Rack Power Distribution within the IT Systems line of business. You will lead development projects for new standard products, define design steps, maintain schedules, and prepare bills of materials.

You will collaborate with global teams and suppliers to meet ambitious timelines and cost targets. The role requires a BS in engineering, 5+ years in design or development, and experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience in engineering design or product development.
• Experience with electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively within cross functional engineering teams.
• Can interpret safety agency standards (UL/IEC) towards safe product design.
• Working knowledge of mechanical 3D CAD modeling a plus.
• Sheet metal design experience a plus.
• Experience with PLM data-entry and BOM creation, e.g., Oracle, Agile EC.

Responsibilities

• Define project engineering scope and assumptions.
• Prepare project schedule and track milestones with the project manager.
• Generate work estimates, timelines, and cost estimates for projects.
• Develop solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists.
• Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and process engineering, production and product offering teams.
• Coordinate design reviews, establish cost metrics, and brainstorm project ideation and challenges.
• Work with manufacturing engineers and production to build prototypes and provide direction.
• Write, submit, and release engineering changes in the PLM system.
