Project Engineer or Project Manager - Solid Waste

Location: US-FL-West Palm Beach

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is seeking a Design Engineer and/or Project Manager to perform solid waste projects. The role offers hybrid work options in our West Palm Beach or Coconut Creek office. We desire a team player eager to develop professionally, capable of preparing engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications, and serving as the Engineer of Record for projects primarily in South Florida for both public and private clients.

Responsibilities include engineering design, client communication, staff coordination, and development. The primary focus will be on solid waste management projects, including landfill gas, landfills, landfill infrastructure, composting, and related activities, spanning design, permitting, construction, and operations support.

How you can make an impact
  • Apply comprehensive engineering and scientific principles to solid waste assignments and related fields.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
  • Work independently on engineering or scientific problems, coordinate work, and represent SCS at meetings and conferences.
  • Conduct fieldwork such as surveys, data gathering, liner inspections, and other site activities in varied terrains and weather conditions.
  • Perform office tasks including CAD drafting, calculations, report writing, site plans, facility diagrams, and permit applications.
  • Engage in business development activities such as proposal preparation, client meetings, and industry conference participation.
  • Receive technical guidance on complex problems and supervisory approval on plans or projects.
Qualifications
  • Florida P.E. registration (preferably civil) or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in consulting, solid waste industry, landfill gas management, air compliance, and permitting.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Pay Range

USD $90,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 per year
