Description

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer II to join our Solar group with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Project Engineer will review, provide analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants.

Location: Any home base location in the United States.

Travel: This is a 100% travel position so locations may vary based on the project. Mortenson hires for a career and not a project. When your project is complete you will be assigned to another project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons
  • Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes
  • Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses
  • Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report
  • Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence)
  • Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing
  • Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers
  • Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents
  • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed
  • Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum of three years related construction experience
  • Solar or renewable energy preferred
  • Experience with Bluebeam preferred
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills
  • Current driver’s license

The base pay range for this role is $91,200 - $123,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
