Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Project Engineer II in Minnesota to coordinate with project teams, review plans, and manage field coordination issues with professionalism and confidentiality.

The role involves interpreting plans for subcontractors, overseeing quality control, permits, submittals, and project closeout procedures, with a focus on safety and timely delivery. Base pay ranges cited; eligible for Mortenson's incentive program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of three years related construction experience.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
