Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II to review and resolve field coordination issues, interact with staff at all levels, and stay flexible in a dynamic environment.

You will interpret plans, manage submittals, permits, QA/QC, and mentor field engineers while ensuring safety and schedule adherence.

Base pay ranges from $93,400 to $126,100, with higher offers in select locations; Mortenson offers comprehensive benefits and an incentive plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of three years related construction experience.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
