RIGID Industries is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer II to independently lead complex engineering projects from concept through production. This role is responsible for managing multiple cross-functional development programs, driving technical decision-making, mitigating project risks, and ensuring successful execution against technical, schedule, cost, and quality objectives. The Project Engineer II serves as a key technical and project leader, partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, Marketing and external suppliers to deliver innovative products and continuous improvements. This position is expected to mentor junior engineers, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and proactively identify opportunities to improve product development processes and project execution.
Essential Functions
- Independently manage engineering projects of moderate to high complexity from concept and planning to implementation with little oversight.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, risk, and cost models.
- Drive technical decision-making with the technical engineering staff and resolve complex engineering and project-related challenges.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to ensure successful product launches.
- Support strategic supplier engagement, material sourcing initiatives, and component selection decisions.
- Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, technical risks, and resource constraints.
- Coordinate prototype builds, testing efforts, tooling development, and manufacturing implementation activities.
- Lead feasibility studies, design reviews, development testing, validation activities, and production readiness reviews.
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate technical, schedule, cost, supply chain, and quality risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Translate business and customer requirements into project scope, design requirements, and measurable deliverables.
- Review and validate Bills of Materials (BoMs), engineering changes, item master data, and product configuration information.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate product issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate customer, supplier, and executive‑level project communications and status reporting.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and ensure successful transition into production.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, project metrics, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Support the generation of technical and marketing documentation related to new product introductions.
- Drive improvements to engineering and project management processes to increase efficiency, quality, and predictability.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Project Management role.
- BS in Engineering, Project Management, or related field required.
- PMP certification, CAPM certification, or equivalent project management training preferred.
- Proven experience successfully leading cross‑functional projects through the complete product development lifecycle.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience with risk management, project scheduling, cost tracking, and resource planning.
- Ability to read, interpret, and review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus across multiple functional groups.
- Experience working within ERP/MRP systems and maintaining engineering product structures.
- Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
- Have and/or willing to obtain US passport.
Normal Work Hours
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (some nights and weekends may be required)
