Job description

Summary

This Project Engineer II position is responsible for independently managing a diverse portfolio of projects within Marine Components. The role encompasses full-cycle project leadership, hands‑on mechanical design and process engineering, innovation in product and manufacturing solutions, supplier and customer management, and active support of business development initiatives to drive growth of Marine Components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage projects for a variety of products and components within Marine Components, including metal parts, towers, flooring, board racks, and other marine‑related items, with potential expansion into other products and segments.

  • Create and execute project schedules while managing suppliers and customers to achieve milestones and track vendor progress
  • Develop product quotes and manufacturing plans, including potential design and management of proposed manufacturing process, tooling, and production requirements
  • Drive innovation by regularly contributing new ideas and solutions to technical and project challenges
  • Coordinate with leadership and engineering teams to develop and maintain accurate project timelines
  • Schedule and lead regular project review meetings, effectively communicating status and driving accountability
  • Manage project approvals and associated communications
  • Oversee prototype, pre‑production, and sample builds, including scheduling, detailed build documentation, BOM creation, engineering change management, and resource coordination to ensure on‑time, in‑spec execution
  • Perform responsibilities in product design engineering and process engineering, including concept development, CAD modeling, drawings, design reviews, technical reports, and adherence to GD&T standards
  • Perform hands‑on manufacturing support including programming and machine trials (ex CNC Mill/Router, Laser cutter, Sheet metal brake, etc)
  • Provide process engineering support through manufacturing process/method selection, routing creation, tooling/fixture design, DFMA analysis, and production optimization
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to deliver feasible, cost‑effective designs aligned with production capabilities
  • Demonstrate self‑driven initiative, high engagement, strong executive function, effective prioritization, and proactive communication with management and internal/external customers throughout all project phases
  • Support project justification and business development by assisting with business cases, participating in customer‑facing technical discussions, and contributing to the growth of Marine Components

Qualifications
  • Education: BSME, or related degree from ABET accredited University preferred; Minimum 3‑5 yrs experience or equivalent experience working as engineer/designer 7yrs+.
  • Language Skills – English required. Effective communication skills will be necessary to perform tasks.
  • Mathematical Skills – Will use mathematics to solve problems, up to the algebraic level.
  • Reasoning Ability – Must maintain a strong understanding of general problem solving, logical reasoning, and root cause analysis.
  • Other Qualifications – CPM, PE, or other professional certifications a plus.
