Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer I to work on-site at Iowa project sites within a 90-mile radius of Coralville. You will review plans, coordinate with staff and subcontractors, and support project team members to resolve field coordination issues with professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities include applying quality plans, managing submittals and RFIs, tracking documents, and mentoring field engineers while ensuring safety, schedules, and compliance throughout

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field is required.
• Minimum of two years related construction experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and industry practices.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional attitude and customer service skills.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans and specs for subcontractors and craft workers.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and maintain permits.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract documents.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers.
• Maintain project schedules and closeout procedures.
