What does Tunista Construction LLC do?

We execute design‑build and bid‑build projects for the Department of Defense, Washington State Department of Transportation, and various public and private entities, providing exposure to diverse project types and construction methods.

What can you expect?

As the Project Coordinator located in FederalWay, WA, you will support civil construction projects and project teams, cultivating and maintaining positive business relationships. The role focuses on project documentation controls, project set‑up, and cost accounting, with opportunities for advancement into leadership roles.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret plans and contract terms, including job cost coding.
  • Ensure field activities adhere to contract plans, specifications, and company policies.
  • Act as liaison with construction managers and other contacts to facilitate project objectives.
  • Coordinate work schedules, communications, and activities with subcontractors.
  • Complete daily project reporting, including cost analysis, timekeeping, environmental and permit compliance, quality assurance/control, quantities, and safety program documentation.
  • Coordinate project activities between office management and field management.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among all project participants.
  • Ensure compliance with current project schedule and completion documentation.
  • Work with Cost Accounting to manage the financial aspects of the contract to protect company interests and maintain good customer relations.
  • Determine supplies and material needs and requisition accordingly.
  • Formulate reports on work progress and cost schedules.
  • Assist in negotiation and buyout of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Represent the company in project meetings as needed.
  • Assist the Project Manager with day‑to‑day project operations.
  • Work in a safe manner, maintaining alertness at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic arithmetic and algebraic skills.
  • Knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing software (Microsoft packages preferred).
  • Ability to learn costing and accounting procedures.
  • Ability to learn computer‑based construction and scheduling programs.
  • Professional and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems.
  • Use of judgment and discretion.
  • Stress tolerance and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Work on project site approximately 80% of the time.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or comparable experience.
  • Valid state driver’s license and compliance with company driving policy.
  • Successful completion of drug, driving, and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role.
Working Environment

The work environment is typical of construction jobs, with noise and working conditions requiring occasional weekend or evening work.
