Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. in Tampa, FL is seeking a Project Engineer with 5–8 years of civil construction experience to own the engineering and project controls for heavy civil highway work. The role supports project managers daily and involves coordination with subcontractors and vendors for timely change orders.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Construction Engineering and Management emphasis and are proficient in Primavera P6, Excel, and Word.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in civil construction (office and field).
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.
• FDOT project experience is a plus.
• Based in the Tampa Bay area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Review the contract and specifications in their entirety.
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day-to-day project needs.
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6.
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting.
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts.
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing.
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings.
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy.
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track.
