Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking a Project Engineer for a heavy civil highway and bridge contractor headquartered near St. Petersburg, FL.

The role focuses on owning engineering and project controls aspects of heavy civil work, including FDOT projects, with local Tampa Bay area opportunities and relocation accepted. You will review contracts, support the PM and Superintendent, and manage schedules, costs, and field coordination.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, ideally Construction Engineering and Management emphasis.
• 5–8 years of experience in civil construction (office and field).
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Review contract and specifications in their entirety.
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day-to-day project needs.
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6.
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting.
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts.
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing.
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings.
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy.
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track.

A heavy civil highway and bridge contractor with work across Florida is hiring a Project Engineer out of its St. Petersburg office in the Tampa Bay area. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Engineer or experienced Field Engineer with 5 to 8 years in civil construction who has managed multiple activities at once and wants a real path with a stable, well backed employer. You'll own the engineering and project controls side of heavy civil highway work, much of it FDOT work. Tampa Bay locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.

What You'll Be Responsible For

What We're Looking For

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, ideally with a Construction Engineering and Management emphasis
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• FDOT project experience is a plus

• Based in the Tampa Bay area or ready to relocate
