Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking a Project Engineer for heavy civil highway and bridge work in the Tampa Bay area. You will support project management and field operations on roadway, drainage and FDOT-related projects, with relocation to Florida welcome.

You will handle RFIs, submittals, drawings, transmittals, and cost/schedule tracking while spending time in the field to oversee construction activities and ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering experience on heavy civil, highway, bridge, drainage or utility projects.
• Ability to read plans, specs and contract documents.
• FDOT or other DOT project experience is a plus.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, cost tracking and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and superintendents on active heavy civil projects.
• Handle RFIs, submittals, drawings, transmittals, approvals and project documentation.
• Track cost, quantities, production, materials and schedule updates.
• Schedule work activities and material deliveries with the field team.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and change orders.
• Communicate with owners, subcontractors and project leadership.
• Review drawings, specs and contract documents.
• Spend 20–30% of time in the field observing construction.
• Support safety, quality and contract compliance.

A large heavy civil contractor with a national footprint and a busy Florida program is hiring a Project Engineer for highway and bridge work in the Tampa Bay area.

This is a strong opportunity for a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Office Engineer or Assistant Project Manager with heavy civil experience who wants bigger projects, a stable long runway employer, and a real path to Project Manager.

You'll support project management and field operations on roadway, bridge, drainage and infrastructure projects, much of it FDOT work. Tampa locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate to Florida are welcome.

What You'll Be Responsible For

What We're Looking For

• Strong RFI, submittal, documentation, cost tracking and schedule exposure.
• Ability to read plans, specs and contract documents.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• FDOT or other DOT project experience is a plus.
• Primavera P6, HCSS or Bluebeam experience is a plus.
• EIT or PE is a plus. Spanish is a plus.
• Tampa Bay candidates preferred. Candidates open to relocating to the Tampa area are welcome.
